Captions that never cover your face: building per-platform safe zones
Every platform overlays its own UI on your video. We trace each app's chrome and keep captions, logos, and CTAs clear of it — automatically.
TikTok's action rail sits on the right. Instagram Reels puts the username and reply bar top and bottom. A 1:1 square post has none of that. If you burn captions into a fixed spot, at least one platform will cover them — or your face.
We traced each platform's UI chrome into a set of insets — the unsafe bands at the top, right, bottom, and left of the frame — as fractions of the video. Every caption, logo, and call-to-action is positioned inside the safe area for the platform you're exporting to.
One take, every format
Because the safe zones are data, not hardcoded layout, a single source video can render 9:16, 1:1, 4:5 and 16:9 and have each one keep its text readable and its subject uncovered. The system nudges overlays around detected faces instead of plastering over them.
It's the kind of detail nobody notices when it works — and everybody notices when a caption hides behind the like button. We'd rather it be invisible.
